 Dr. Avrille George Bio:

Dr. Avrille George MD, the owner of Infectious Disease Specialist, a telemedicine based Infectious disease practice that services hospitals and LTC facilities in NY State with expert physician infectious disease consultative services. While on an overseas medical mission trip to Burundi she was led to pursue the field of Infectious Disease.

Dr. George was born in Trinidad and Tobago and migrated to the US at age 14, where her family settled in Brooklyn, New York. She attended Brooklyn Technical High School then earned a Bachelor's€™s Degree in Chemistry from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York in 2001. She later received a full scholarship to attend Ross University School of Medicine in the West Indies and graduated with Honors in 2006. She completed her Residency in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn NY in 2009 then her Fellowship in Infectious Disease, also at SUNY Downstate, in 2011.
She is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) and International Society of Travel Medicine, She earned a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the University of Alabama at Birmingham through the Gorgas Clinical Tropical Medicine course in Peru in 2013 and received her Certification in Travel Medicine from the International Society of Travel Medicine in 2015.

In 2016 she was blessed with the grant from Doctors Across NY to start the tele-ID practice.  In 2017 she published "Stewardship", a web based, complete antibiotic stewardship program for nursing homes that enables them to start and run an antibiotic stewardship program.  In 2018 she had the privilege of conducting a webinar for NYSHFA on The Next Phase of the ROP: Antibiotic Stewardship in LTC Facilities 101 and the same year she spoke at the Delaware Health Care Facilities Association, Infection Control Symposium and Educational Seminar.
